This is a private owned Investment Management firm whose focus is on providing alternative investment products. This firm is currently looking for an outstandingly smart Quant Risk Manager who is passionate about risk! The firm operates a disciplined approach to risk management and rigorously measure their risk on individual stocks portfolio /firm wide levels. They are looking for someone who has learnt about how to manage risk within a tier one banks or larger investment management firms and are looking for the freedoms and breadth of experience you get working for a buy side firm. The Risk function is seen much more as an advisory function to the trading desks than the narrow procedural remit of most Risk functions in the IBs now days.
Responsibilities will include.
• Production of new processes for the implementation of risk management methodologies
• Monitoring quant fund risk measures
• Evaluation of risk estimates
• Reviewing risk limits
• Analysing trends in risk exposures
• Identifying problems, analysing the cause and suggestion of resolution.
Candidate Attributes.
• PhD ideally in applied Mathematics from a world class university
• Advanced understanding of Mathematics and Mathematical reasoning
• Some understanding of Risk Management
• Knowledge of Derivatives (exotic/structured Products ideally). Not because it’s relevant but because the risk associated is more complex.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English
• Concise
• An easy manner even under pressure. Egos or abrasive personality types don’t fit in this organisation
• Creative, analytical and rich on ideas
• An outstanding aptitude for practical problem solving in a commercial environment.
