POSITION SUMMARY: As a recognized company expert, responsible for the development and implementation of environmental strategies, policies, procedures and processes to achieve optimal control or mitigation of environmental aspects and related risk of negative impacts upon the environment. RESPONSIBILITIES: Works closely with customer personnel and program leadership team to assure alignment of environmental strategies across all geographic and administrative divisions, and to assure that contract needs and requirements are met. Monitors processes for compliance with applicable standards, monitors environmental performance and benchmarks against the industry. Identifies and communicates best practices within and across all geographic and administrative divisions, with headquarters, and to the leadership team. Accountable for environmental input into the financial year plan development and implementation. Attends meetings on matters affecting the environment and travels to visit field activities, to inspect or survey workplaces, processes, products, or other systems for compliance. Develops procedures and implements processes which have been established to assure compliance with applicable standards, requirements, processes and identified best practices. Participates in diverse activities such as plan development and implementation, performance data quality review, incident investigation report review, and performance assessments. Provides expert technical advice to operations and support services personnel. Maintains professional knowledge of program environmental processes and standards, as well as good working knowledge of environmental requirements in the assigned area of responsibility. Participates in industry associations as a representative of the company. Trains workers, supervisors, managers, or other environmental personnel in environmental subjects. May serve as a technical or procedural advisor to operational counterparts. May function as a team lead or as an individual contributor. EDUCATION EXPERIENCE: Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent, and twelve to fifteen years of related experience. Professional registration or certification is preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
