EQUIPMENT SPECIALIST (ELECTRICAL)
The Equipment Specialist (Electrical) focus is responsible for the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the plant equipment and the entire generating station. The Equipment Specialist (Electrical) focus will perform duties involving electrical (primary), mechanical maintenance and operations. The Equipment Specialist (Electrical) focus will be responsible for maintaining, repairing and operating (including but not limited to): circulating water systems, condensate/feedwater systems, boiler systems, turbine/generator systems, Electrical Switchgear up to 24KV, Motor Control Centers, Batteries, Motors up to 10,500Hp and various auxiliary plant systems. The work schedule may involve working a combination of rotating shift and/or day schedule. Successful Candidates may report to Luminant Academy in Tyler, Texas for initial training and follow up training.
Key Roles and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned. Directly or thru others, the incumbent:
· Performs electrical and mechanical duties as required at apprentice to Journeyman level to maintain equipment.
· Will be required to use an assortment of tools that will include electrical test equipment, hand tools and power tools (both electrical and air operated)
· Duties include but are not limited to: Performs troubleshooting, repair and operation of all power plant equipment from local controls (outside) and remote controls (inside control room)
· Monitors Equipment temperature, pressure, flow and level transmitters/gauges to assess the condition of the equipment and enters data into handheld electronic devices.
· The majority of work will be performed in a physically demanding environment, which includes working outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
· As a power plant employee, the incumbent will perform duties in Electrical Maintenance, Operations, Mechanical Maintenance and other duties as assigned.
· May be subject to being a member of Plant’s Fire Brigade and Rescue Team.
· May be subject to working a rotating shift schedule.
· Job assignments will be made based on merit, skills, knowledge, abilities and qualifications.
· All work shall be performed in compliance with Luminant Safety Handbook.
· Performs other duties as required.
Job Requirements:
Job Qualifications (Education, Experience and Skill Requirements)
· High School Diploma, GED or equivalent is required
· Prior Power Plant Experience is preferred.
· Good Knowledge of basic math, reading and writing skills required.
· Ability to use all hand tools and various tools.
· 3- 5 years Journeyman level experience in a heavy industrial setting (Utility, Refinery, Mill, etc) performing Electrical Maintenance activities (Troubleshooting, repairing, installing, reading Electrical Prints, Electrical/Mechanical Repairs, etc) preferred.
· Good understanding of variable frequency drives; motor start and stop relay schemes; low, medium and high voltage switchgear; PLC logic controllers; 125 vdc trip/reset logic; exciter controls; igniter and burner controls is preferred.
· Experience working on Electrical circuits from 120V up to 24KV, single and three phase
· Experience in energized equipment troubleshooting and repair in a safe manner.
· Experience operating Mobile Equipment such as forklifts and cranes is preferred.
· Good Communication skills, both written and verbal
· Basic Computer skills
