Equities IT Project Manager recruitment
Additionally a Global aspect exists as it also provides 2nd line full project life cycle support to the US and Asia operations.
The business supported relates mainly to a full Cash Equities trading portfolio including Program, Care and DMA/DSA trading. This is a highly volatile business requiring a strong technological platform to support the business aims of growing both organically and through the introduction of new products.
The platform currently consists of in-house developed applications and components built around the Fidessa platform.
This role is to run a number of projects related to post trade activity specifically concerning the management of Commission Sharing and introducing brokers initially. This will involve the evaluation and possible implementation of a 3rd party product to do this. Additionally a project is in progress to enhance the reference data within Fidessa and it is likely this will be included in this portfolio.
At present this is the extent of the portfolio but it may increase/change in the future so a good, all rounder is sought.
SG are introducing Agile methodology and a candidate with experience in this would be a preferred candidate.

- Ensuring all aspects of the Société Générale Project Life Cycle are complied with
- Chairing of Weekly and monthly update meetings and Monthly Steering Committees
- Responsibility of managing initial Studies for new projects and all of the necessary documentation to launch new projects
- No direct reports into this position, more of a co-ordination role

Reporting to the Programme manager the Project Manager will have free reign to organise the projects to meet the objectives
Internal external contacts
- Key business sponsors from Cash Equities business in Europe (e.g. European Single Orders, Facilitation, Program Trading, DMA/DSA, Middle Office, etc…)
- Regular communication / liaison with above sponsors (typically at least once a week and potentially on a much more frequent basis – dependent upon need)
- Internally, with all the teams of ITEC of Paris, London, New York and Asia, including Support, Business Analysts, Development Management; the fidessa Team onsite and the GTS Teams (DBA, System Network…).
- Engagement with Fidessa where their partnership or assistance is required
- Engagement with required 3rd parties from time to time to evaluate their products in relation to providing business solutions
- Regular communication with the Project Management Office to ensure the Société Générale rules are being adhered to
Specific context
- Focus will initially be on initiating various new projects
- Secondary focus will be on taking over responsibility for a number of the projects currently in progress
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education
- Anticipated that the candidate would have been educated to degree level (2.1 or better).
- However, experience, proven skills and delivery, and industry expertise are regarded as equally important factors
Past experience
- Strong track record of Project delivery in the IT Financial Sector
- Obviously experience of the Fidessa Product would be beneficial
Languages
- French would be a significant advantage, but essential.
Technical skills
- Detailed knowledge of the Cash Equities business (functional, typical workflow, etc…) – Single Orders, Program Trading, Facilitation, Middle Office, etc…
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Proven experience of dealing with both technical and business personnel
- Société Générale use many bespoke tools, but MS Project skills would be advantageous
