Department and Team Structure

Finance Division

The Glasgow Finance Division helps senior management and its individual business units manage the firm's risk by implementing financial controls over our business activities. The division is crucial to safeguarding the firm's franchise, reporting on current performance, and evaluating business opportunities.

Delta One Structured Products Profit and Loss Team

The Delta One Structured Products Profit and Loss Team is part of the Global Product Control (GPC) organization in Glasgow. GPC manages the Firm's risk by implementing financial controls over its business activities. The team performs a financial control function over profit and loss generated daily by the Delta One Structured Products trading desk. The team works closely with Business Unit, Operations and Finance counterparts globally to ensure that the PL produced is a true reflection of the days trading activity. Every month end the team is responsible for validating the integrity of net revenue and balance sheet general ledger account balances. The team faces off with businesses based in London and New York.

Role Description:

• Practical support of daily production and control of the Delta One Structured Products PL.
• Encompasses daily PL production and analytical processes. Key controls include position control, valuation, trade, currency and legal entity review.
• Ensure high quality attribution of daily PL using the Greeks.
• Products traded comprise a wide range of Equity instruments including but not limited to: Options, Futures, Swaps, Certificates, Securities Lending and Equity Repo transactions.
• Report and agree daily PL with traders and finance counterparts.
• Daily contact and liaison with Finance, Operations and Business Unit counterparts globally.
• Understand and be in control of the key risks. Identify control gaps. Enhance the quality and increase the scalability of existing controls.
• Escalate appropriately risk issues as and when they arise.
• Develop a broad understanding of the businesses and understand the PL drivers. Draft revenue commentaries for presentation to finance management.
• Participate in a wide variety of global finance projects.
• Participation in and support of Month end reconciliation and validation of Net Revenue and Balance Sheet.

Skills Required

• Candidates should have a specific interest in financial services.
• Product knowledge across a wide range of Equity products is desirable.
• Qualified accountant preferred.
• Good communication and analytical skills are essential.
• Intermediate Excel (including pivots and formulae) and Access skills desirable.
• High level of guardianship - the candidate should be very focused on guardianship and ensuring that exceptions are identified, resolved and escalated on a timely basis.
• High level of organisational skills - ability to manage time effectively is essential.
• Ability to manage own workload and carry out tasks with minimal guidance.
• Ability to quickly understand and pick up issues.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight reporting deadlines.
• Candidate must be able to work well within a team environment.
