Department and Team Structure

Finance Division

The Glasgow Finance Division helps senior management and its individual business units manage the firm's risk by implementing financial controls over our business activities. The division is crucial to safeguarding the firm's franchise, reporting on current performance, and evaluating business opportunities.

Repo and Daily B/S Team (BRM)

The Bank Resource Management team (BRM) is represented in our Glasgow, London and New York offices providing controller support for Firms' 'funding' activities (with processes relating to a variety of activities and balances: Repo, Stock Loan, Listed Margin, OTC Collateral, External customer and Cross entity trading).

The Repo and Daily B/S Team works closely with Business Unit, Operations and Finance counterparts globally to ensure that the Repo PL produced is a true reflection of the day's trading activity. Every month end the team is responsible for validating the integrity of net revenue and balance sheet general ledger account balances.

Role Description:

The successful candidate's key deliverables will include:-

• Management and performance of daily profit and loss (PL) production, daily PL management reporting and month-end certification processes covering Net Revenue and Balance Sheet accounts.
• Supporting European Fixed Income and Equity Repo trading desks - creating close partnerships with the traders and infrastructure to resolve PL / Balance Sheet issues and provide financial data to help inform trading decision making.
• Supporting the production of weekly revenue commentaries that feed up to senior management in the Finance Division and the Business Units.
• Gaining an understanding of the businesses and products traded is essential as position involves being a point contact for control / revenue based queries.
• Management of team to outperform daily deadlines and focus on continuous improvement.
• Participation in various initiatives including redesign of internal processes to improve the control framework, system enhancements, strategic renovation etc.
• Other ad hoc duties.

Skills Required

• Candidates should have a specific interest in financial services.
• Product knowledge across a wide range of Equity and Fixed Income products is desirable.
• People and workflow management experience.
• Qualified accountant preferred but not essential.
• Good communication and analytical skills are essential.
• Intermediate Excel (including pivots and formulae) and Access skills desirable.
• High level of guardianship - the candidate should be very focused on guardianship and ensuring that exceptions are identified, resolved and escalated on a timely basis.
• High level of organisational skills - ability to manage time effectively is essential.
• Ability to manage own workload and carry out tasks with minimal manager guidance.
• Ability to quickly understand and pick up issues.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight reporting deadlines.
• Candidate must be able to work well within a team environment.
