The Division

Fidelity Management Research Company (FMRCo) acts as the investment advisor to Fidelity’s family of mutual funds. FMRCo has three fund divisions: Equity, High-Income and Fixed-Income. Securities are managed, researched, bought and sold for the funds by a staff of portfolio managers, analysts and traders.

Business Overview

The Portfolio Services Group (PSG) is part of the Primary Trading team and acts as a liason between fund managers the trading desk and trade operations group. 

The Position

PSG team members support Portfolio Managers with a number of tasks and functions to help the PM operate the fund on a daily basis. The candidate will be expected to work as a team with Fidelity traders to deliver a consistent high level of service to the portfolio managers. The PSG London role is critical to improving the efficiency of the PSG Global Team and will be servicing portfolio managers based in both London and United States. PSG team member activities include, but are not limited to the following:

Primary Responsibilities

• Rebalancing funds by request or through standing instruction

• Generate futures trades to help manage PM cash

• Work on New Fund launches, rebalances

• Fund cash monitoring

• Upload daily trades for several portfolios

• Sub portfolio allocations from changes at the parent fund

• Daily reports for PMs and CIOs

• Loading trades from PM system

• Help create log of new tasks working with Sector Traders and Primary Traders

• Back up for PM coverage working with Primary Trader in London

Skills Knowledge

• Team Work Skills. Demonstrated communication and collaboration skills in working with teammates, servicing clients (PMs), and working with internal/external resources to find solutions to issues that PSG group faces with their tasks. 

• Systems Skills. Learn and master PSG tools which is primarily CMT (Cloning Management Tool).

• Portfolio Construction Knowledge. Understanding of how portfolios are constructed and portfolio dynamics when funds are in redemption or when funds receive flows. 

• Demonstrated history of improving process efficiency. Since much of the role is to conduct several tasks each day, we are looking for PSG personnel to contribute to making the tasks as efficient as possible. Reduce cycle times,/automate when possible in order to create more time to add more activities to the task list for PSG

Creativity.   Ability to see activities done by traders and turn them into PSG activities that can be done systematically
