European Retail Energy Managing Director
They have one of the largest footprints of any other utility reseller and one of the fastest growing energy suppliers in North America servicing several hundred thousand residential and commercial customers and are rapidly growing.
European Expansion
As part of their aggressive expansion program, they are growing their international presence, through hiring a Managing Director to establish, provide vision, leadership, shape and aggressively grow their European business (Greenfield). The role will be accountable for all aspects of the European business and will be a heavily autonomous role, utilising the Global CEO and Executive Board as a sounding board, as well as source of further seed capital for further growth. They have established already a channel partner in Europe and will be looking for the European Managing Director to utilise and built on this very strong relationship to grow the European business from scratch.
- European HQ Location: TBC dependent on the location of the successful European Managing Director. Targeted locations though include: London, Dusseldorf, Berlin, Munich, Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid and Copenhagen
- Package on offer: Six figure basic salary + equity in the European business + bonus plan + benefits
The Successful European Managing Director Profile
- It is essential that the successful European Managing Director will be a self-starting, autonomous leader with expert knowledge of the European Retail Energy (Gas and Power) market.
- The successful European Managing Director could come a variety of Executive MD, CEO, COO, Operations Director etc and this could be from directly working for a utility or consultancy on-site at utilities in Europe
- Knowledge of at least 2 major European energy utility markets
- Proven Board Level experience with deep knowledge of the European Retail Energy Market
- Strong commercial negotiation and contract management matched with the ability to read and understand corporate financial statements and legal contracts
- Full profit and loss responsibilities for a project, subsidiary or company
- The MD will be the public face of the European business and it is imperative that he/she is very credible and effective in that role
- Ideally a wealth of contacts in European Retail Energy to draw upon and hopefully to utilise to form part of the MD’s senior management team
- Tertiary qualifications such as an MBA or comparable post-graduate business qualifications will be valued but above all else, the MD will be able to demonstrate a track record of having operational responsibility in Retail Energy marketing with an emphasis on the mass markets of Europe
- Complete written and spoken fluency in English is essential with further fluency in other European languages (French, German, Dutch, Danish, Spanish etc) being desirable
