European VP – Tax recruitment

The opportunity

 - Prepare tax figures for inclusion in group accounts and financial statements in accordance with UK, Lux, US GAAP and, going forward, IFRS as appropriate.

- Prepare corporation tax computations and returns for Swiss Re branches and companies based in the relevant jurisdiction and liaise with tax agents with regard to the preparation of tax computations and returns for certain other jurisdictions, including identifying potential tax positions to minimise tax payable.

- Undertake tax balance reviews and ensure tax balances are reconciled.

- Liaise with internal finance department, business units and external auditors.

- Deal with correspondence and queries from Tax Authorities.

- Implement tax planning projects in the relevant jurisdictions, including development and design of such projects, with the rest of the European tax team as appropriate

- Deal with ad hoc tax queries and provide tax advice internally, including tax advice on all large transactions involving the relevant jurisdictions

- Work with the Transfer Pricing specialists to ensure compliance with local transfer pricing rules

About you

- Qualified: Preferred ACA, ACCA, CIMA, ATII qualified with 4 years PQE (i.e. 7 years experience) or non-UK equivalent in either Practice or a Financial Services organisation

- Enthusiastic, prepared to learn and advance in technical competence and general skills base

- Self motivated and able to work on own initiative

- Good understanding of corporation tax and an ability to understand and interpret accounts, specifically tax accountancy

- Ability to convert financial company data into tax computations

- Good knowledge of companys/groups financial performance, including products/market/budgetary control

- Strong IT spreadsheets/database skills - Advanced

- Ability to develop relationships within the business, with deal and underwriting teams, Group Treasury, Location Heads, the Global Swiss Re Tax team

- Sharing knowledge, team orientated

- Energetic, prepared to assist where required
