Role Purpose:
The Risk Control function safeguards the global reputation and preserves the long-term interests of UBS by controlling the risk exposure of the Investment Bank. As part of the Risk Control Operations team, you will ensure that counterparty static information is accurate thus ensuring that new and existing business is accurately captured and risk is managed so that the firm is adequately protected from unacceptable exposures.
Risk Control Operations has the following key responsibilities:
- Performing regular controls thus ensuring data quality across the Credit and Market Risk infrastructure.
- Analysing material movements in risk exposure to determine reasonableness and drivers.
- Input and maintenance of Risk owned data, including internal ratings and limit points.
- Providing support to the Risk community for exposure, data, and system queries.
- Managing exposures, especially those in excess of Risk appetite.
You will be working in a Data Management analyst role within Risk Control Operations in London (RCO) with primary responsibility for the actioning of Credit Officer requests in regard to managing counterparty static data and counterparty ownership details. The majority of the team is based in the UBS Polish Service Centre and there is a small London team that handles restricted information and more complex requests.
The majority of the day is taken up with adhoc requests, but there is a percentage of the role taken up with regularly tasks, such as a monthly review of unrated counterparties and monitoring breaks on credit reports and liaising with Credit Officers to ensure that the Credit reporting is accurate.
The role involves liaising directly with Credit Risk Officers and Analysts on a frequent basis and will require close interaction with the RCO Data Management team in Poland and RCO team members in APAC.
This is a Run the Bank role, where the requirements and demands are constantly changing as we identify improvements to our processes to help the Credit community better monitor their risk.
Key responsibilities:
- Maintaining Counterparty Static Information
- Setting up of Loan facilities maintaining the data as requested by the Credit Officers
- Responsibility for improving existing processes ensuring procedures are up-to-date.
- Running of daily/weekly/monthly checks and following up where exceptions are found.
- Updating of metrics each week that will keep senior management updated of issues.
- Involved in a small amount of User Acceptance Testing when systems affecting us are updated.
- Building solid working relationships with Credit Officers globally.
Required skills:
- An effective verbal and written communicator
- Highly numerate and possess strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Reasonably skilled in the use of Microsoft Office applications, with advanced skills in Excel and MS Access being advantageous
- A fast learner with the ability to get up to speed quickly with new processes and IT applications/ infrastructure
- Outgoing and personable, with the confidence to deal with varied groups of stakeholders and levels of seniority
- Able to work to tight deadlines and handle business pressures
- Highly organised, with the ability to balance numerous tasks and responsibilities
- Experienced in Investment Banking, preferably within a Risk Control function.
- A University graduate, preferably with Business/ Maths/ Economics/ Finance background.
