Compliance Officer required to focus on the Credit Risk Management services of a top tier investment bank based in Canary Wharf
This top tier investment bank provides a wide range of corporate lending solutions to many of the UK and Europe's largest companies. As a result of fluctuations in market conditions and demand from the regulator, the firm is now keen to recruit a Compliance Officer to focus on their Credit business, traversing the Public and Private side of the bank.
Your responsibilities would focus on the day-to-day Compliance advisory coverage for the EMEA Credit Risk Management areas of the Corporate Investment Bank, including the Credit Portfolio Group, Special Credits, and Credit Risk Officers.
The EMEA Banking Compliance team is based in London, currently comprising of four professionals (with headcount to increase) and covers Credit Risk Management and Investment Banking Coverage, MA, Capital Markets, Corporate Banking and Research Advisory across the EMEA region.
Key Duties Responsibilities
· Provide a pro-active and re-active day-to-day advisory service in relation to regulatory requirements, internal policies and procedures, best practice guidelines and reputational matters which impact Credit Risk Management activities
· Develop, implement and maintain policies and procedures required for compliance by the various Credit Risk Management areas with relevant regulations, corporate policies and market practices, including issues related to handling inside information consistent with the Firm's information barriers, trading activity in the loan and credit default swap market, and the Firm's participation in bankruptcy/workout situations
· Provide real-time guidance to senior management, traders and portfolio managers regarding issues related to trading activity, conflicts, information sharing, disclosures of interests and other issues arising from their investment activity or as part of their risk management responsibilities.
· Provide induction and ongoing training to Credit Risk Management areas on regulatory requirements, firm policies and best practice issues using one-to-one and classroom methodologies as appropriate
· Ensure timely and accurate responses to regulatory enquiries and liaise with relevant internal groups to obtain the required information
· Assist with internal investigations and reviews as required
· Advise on new products/new business initiatives
· Liaise with compliance colleagues in other regions on industry developments and rule making, attend global compliance calls and meetings
· Monitor and review regulatory developments and assess impact of industry developments on Credit Risk Management activities and keeping senior management informed of such developments
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills Experience Required
· Solid relevant experience in a large financial institution, regulatory institution or law firm
· Knowledge of the syndicated loan market, bankruptcy/restructuring, credit risk management function, and/or trading in the credit default swap market preferred
· Experience advising on developing and implementing information barrier policies and procedures preferred
· Self motivated, proactive and with a proven ability to learn
· Good communication and interpersonal skills at all levels
· Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
