Executive Director, Operational Risk (EMEA)
Overview
The team provides a centralized view of all control functions, and thereby assists in immediate, real time problem detection and escalation.
The EMEA Oversight Control Group assumes an oversight and consolidating role for the region, partnering with the control officers and their regional teams, as well as the Central Control Team, Risk and Compliance to deliver the function objectives of the investment bank.
The Operational Risk team is responsible for
- Active oversight of operational risk (OR) for the Firm across EMEA.
- Oversight and providing assistance to senior management to identify, quantify and manage the end to end operationoal risk profiles of their businesses.
- Review and enhancement of the EMEA OR framework in line with changing regulations.
- Influencing the business to adopt best practices for OR.
- Satisfying external auditors and regulators that an effective risk framework is in place.
Role
- Operational Risk Governance.
- Oversight of and participation in monthly lines of business Operational Risk Committees.
- Assist in compliance with current and developing regulations industry developments.
- Review and interpret consultation papers and guidance notes from FSA/CEBS/Basel.
- Analysis of the bank's framework, systems processes against published regulations to identify gaps or weaknesses
- Development and implementation of new firm-wide Risk and Control Self Assessment policy.
- Lead the development of the regional and legal entity OR framework, including KRIs, KPIs, risk appetite statement, stress testing as necessary.
- Ensure delivery of accurate and appropriate management information to the Boards of key UK regulated entities.
Candidates
- Must have experience of risk and control environment through operational risk, finance, business management, audit, compliance or other controls related role.
- Will be organised, with proven project delivery experience within a financial services firm.
- Should have strong communication, leadership, presentation and influencing skills.
- Will have a thorough understanding of operational risk management.
- Must demonstrate the ability to build strong working relationships with central and business aligned functions across the region and co-ordinate delivery across functions of operational risk requirements.
Specific qualifications required
- BA/BSc in related field.
- Significant experience in financial services.
- Experience working cross functionally at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to influence business partners so that the appropriate business outcomes are achieved.
- Sound knowledge of businesses and products offered by leading investmetn banks.
