Experimental Technologies Group – Senior Research Technologist for a Proprietary Trading Firm based in Chicago recruitment
Our client is a highly reputable proprietary trading firm based in Chicago who is looking to hire a Senior Research Engineer to aid in the construction of a new trading platform for Fixed Income.
The Experimental Technologies group is responsible for the augmentation of the firm’s research.
Currently, they are responsible for the advancement of a new platform which will improve the speed at which the firm computes their trading strategies. The ET group is attempting to do this by analysing existing data to find alternative “pathways” for the data to travel.
The team program in C++ within a Unix Environment. The successful candidate will ideally come from a financial background as the role makes extensive use of both advanced quantitative financial research as well as technological
The successful candidate will likely also have the following:
- A PhD or MS in Computer Science from a highly reputable technological university.
- Evidence of enthusiasm for Computer Programming, i.e. coding awards, personal projects etc…
- 2-3 years in industry, focusing on high quality computer programming
- Supplementary 2-3 years in finance, transferring knowledge gained into the financial world.
- Outstanding C++ skills and a complete understanding of the fundamentals of computing.
- A good appreciation of performance programming, i.e. handling bottlenecks effectively, preventative measures and correct processes.
- Belief in writing code that adheres to excellent computing standards.
- Evidence of loyalty and commitment.
This is a senior position and you would be expected to use the experienced gained throughout your career to make a significant impact.
This is also a highly challenging role and is seen by the firm as a long-term hire. They expect the person to be somebody who is highly enthusiastic, energetic and ambitious. You would be somebody who wants to make a “mark” on your new firm as opposed to filling in a gap.
In return you can expect the following:
- A highly competitive base salary (up to $200,000 USD)
- Two discretionary bonuses paid in December and June.
