Field Manager
FIELD MANAGER
Commercial Kitchen Construction
Responsible for detailed review of all Plans prior to final submittals being plotted, on-site implementation and completion of the Project through to opening.
Reports to: Director of Project Management
Supervises: No one
Internal Key Contacts: Project Manager, Contract Administrator, Designer, Estimating, Sales, Design Director and CAD operators
External Key Contacts: Fabricators, General Contractors, Subcontractors and Client
Position Responsibilities
Teamwork Success Requirements
- Meet with Project Manager, Contract Administrator, Estimating and Sales Manager for “Project Turnover” or Pre-Turnover meeting
- Meet with Project Manager and Contract Administrator to review project including schedule, subcontractors, plans and contract.
- Provide assistance to Project Manager involving field questions or problems concerning the Client / Contractor
Market Leadership
- Review foodservice shop drawings submittals, make necessary adjustments, and notify all parties concerned.
- Check rough-ins and job conditions and notify all parties of any concerns using Field Reports, Requests for Information (RFI’s), etc., on:
- Underground
- Exhaust requirements
- Rough-ins
- Refrigeration requirements
- Establish installation schedules and issue to Client, General Contractor (G.C.), and R.W. Smith sub-contractors.
- Verify all equipment ship dates through Contract Administrator three weeks prior to date needed, adjusting shipments accordingly. Notify all parties concerned of adjusted shipments and meet with G.C. to review any project requirements and schedule revisions.
Operational Efficiency
- Handle and resolve service call freight damage report incidents with R.W.S. service manager.
- Set up project schedules with vendors and G.C.
- Provide Project Manager with back-up information for daily reports, change order requests, R.F.I.’s, etc.
- Process field reports and conversation confirmation reports as required.
- Monitor job site for schedule changes and issue schedule revisions in writing.
- Coordinate deliveries to job site in conjunction with installation crews and job schedule
- Field measure with fabricators.
Customer Satisfaction
- Order shop drawings and put together submittals. Revise submittals as required and send to Contractor / Customer and Project Manager.
- Establish completion and punch list. Coordinate all project completion issues with sub contractors, G.C. and vendors.
- Assist Project Manager on walk through with Client and / or General Contractor.
- Coordinate additional work requests or costs with clients with Project Manager for their submittal to client.
Financial Performance
- Control project to eliminate back charges.
- Notify Project Manager immediately of any cost impacts.
- Coordinate with Project Manager on all Change Orders and additions in field. Insure all work proceeds with documentation of Contract or executed Change Orders.
- Support Functions (in accomplishing KRA’s)
- Provide communication to Contract Administrator to maintain Job Log Sheet documenting all site visits and conversations.
- Review all Purchase Orders issued to incorporate any final field or submittal revisions prior to ordering.
- Schedule and oversee start-ups, equipment training and job site demonstrations under the jurisdiction of the Project Manager
Minimum (Basic) Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED
- A minimum of 3 years recent commercial construction experience as a field manager or superintendent.
Skills:
- Intermediate-level skill with Microsoft Word and Excel and SmartPhone applications relevant to reviewing and managing projects
- Excellent written and verbal communication
Abilities:
- Must maintain organizational integrity of all projects and be detail oriented
- Ability to manage and effectively juggle multiple, simultaneous projects in various stages of completion across multiple counties and/or states
- Ability to assess and resolve installation problems at the worksite with a variety of individuals
- Must be able to read blueprints
- Must be a team player and have the ability to work with various levels of personnel both inside and outside of the company
- Ability to influence others and to negotiate win-win solutions
Knowledge:
- Must be experienced with and understand the nuances of construction scheduling, project timelines and sequencing of work activities
Preferred Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
- Recent experience as a field manager/superintendent working on large foodservice projects
- Recent experience with military and/or healthcare projects, particularly within the foodservice discipline
Knowledge:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Project
Skills:
- Lead or supervisory skills
