1. Job Description Summary
Provide direct field service to ensure prompt and immediate solutions to customer problems in the field while maximizing profitability and customer satisfaction.

Education
Required: Associate Degree or equivalent work experience in a technical field
Preferred: B.S. Degree or equivalent
Experience
Required: Two to three years experience in the industrial service environment, preferably with analytical instrumentation
Preferred: Three to five years experience as above
Licensing /Certification
Required: Current Driving License
Preferred: none
Skills, knowledge, abilities
Good understanding of electronics, electrical, and mechanical applications relevant to Draeger Safety products, including analog and digital circuitry common to microprocessor controlled devices.
Able to develop competitive training courses and price analysis, gather information and prepare quotes for customers.
Ability to operate hand tools and work with mechanical parts.
Basic understanding of regulatory standards and agencies.
In-depth knowledge of Draeger Safety products.
Computer Must be proficient in the use of PC application programs (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, SAP, Octopus/RMS, et al).
Mathematics Must be able to perform routine arithmetic calculations and have a complete understanding of pricing structures and gross margin.
Language Must be literate in English to effectively articulate and communicate company and product information to customers and staff.
Mechanical
Technical Must be able to read and understand diagrams provided for use in repairing Dräger equipment and comprehend a technical problem presented by any staff member and direct the person towards an effective solution.
Physical Lifting and carrying objects under 30 lbs

4. Working Conditions
Work usually in a field environment which may involve occupational hazards associated with industrial work areas. There will be travel by vehicle or air to customer locations involving routine hazards estimated to be 50% or greater, as necessary.
5. Authority
· Field Service Technician is selected by the Division Sales Manager.
· The Accounting Department document titled “Approval Authorization by Employee” specifies the limits of authority to approve purchase requisitions and expense requisitions.
6. Essential Functions
The essential functions of the Field Service Technician consist of, but are not limited to the following:
Responsibilities:
· Provide direct field service to ensure prompt and immediate solutions to customer problems in the field while maximizing profitability and customer satisfaction.
· Perform direct field service on all Draeger products including detection, protection, and systems.
· Maintains service paperwork and database to ensure that records are up to date and contain sufficient data to trend repair data.
· Offer technical assistance and phone support to customers, Draeger sales personnel, distributors, manufacturer reps and authorized service providers.
· Thoroughly understand the needs and requirements of Draeger customers and product applications to support service requirements of Draeger customers in the field.
· Provide system installation, start up and commissioning as well as operational training for new installations and instruments.
· Maintain good working relationship between Dräger Safety Service, Sales, Marketing and Engineering.
· Working knowledge of PCs and associated software including, but not limited to, Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, SAP, Octopus/RMS etc.
· Participate in the development and negotiations of maintenance and service contracts that provide cost effective field coverage, to include hourly rates, warranty service cost, on-site start-ups, buyer cost and territory coverage.
· Training in support of Draeger products may require occasional travel to Germany and/or England.
· Maintain a close liaison with other Draeger Safety Companies.

· Develop and maintain a strong, growing rental program in support of Draeger Services goal to be number one in safety rental.
· Demonstrates good judgement in investigating and solving problems and in respecting the confidentiality of company, customer and personnel information.

· Does not abuse the privilege of this position by taking excessive days off.

7. Measurements of Performance
The Field Service Technician will be deemed to be performing in an acceptable manner when the following have occurred:
· The Service Center Group effectively generates sales revenues to meet objectives as established by the Technical Services Manager –NAFTA Region.
· All duties and responsibilities are performed on time and in a satisfactory manner.
· Quality and timeliness of all reports meets the approval of Technical Service Manager.
· Co-ordinates and works well with the other functions and positions of Dräger Safety.
