General Summary:
Perform installation of service to XO customers and the repair of existing customer service. Perform general maintenance, upgrades and preventive maintenance on customer equipment and associated central office/co-location equipment. Secondary responsibilities of performing Central Office work or outside plant work on an as-needed basis.
The Field Services Technician must be able to interface with customers, service technicians, technical support personnel, and other telecom professionals and have the communication skills to convey the situation in a professional and logical manner.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Install, maintain, repair and test unbundled circuits (DS0s), DS1s, VoIP, DS3s, Ethernet and Optical/SONET ckts
• Install, maintain, and repair XO customer premise equipment (channel banks, routers, DSL modems, IADs, Optical/SONET transport and perform/troubleshoot inside wiring)
• Install, maintain and repair all DS0, DS1/VoIP, DS3, Ethernet-level, and Optical/SONET test equipment at all field service locations
• Manage complex projects that include equipment installations at multiple locations and multiple timelines
• Interface with external customers and other key technical contacts both inside and outside of XO in a professional, quality manner.
• Demonstrate safe/responsible work habits to ensure proper vehicle operation and a safe workplace environment.
• Train all Field Service Technician I and Field Service Technician II’s in their jobs as requested
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Understanding of and compliance with systems such as WFM, TBS, Remedy, CER/Nitrox/Inventory, SCRIBE, and the ability to log into and configure/provision Optical/SONET systems preferred, Oracle preferred
• Strong knowledge of the installation, troubleshooting, and repair of higher BW services, to include DS3, Ethernet, and Optical/SONET services

Minimum Qualifications:
• Education: Associates degree in Telecommunications or equivalent work experience.
• Licensures: Must possess a valid drivers license
• Relevant Work Experience: 6 + years experience required, 2-4 years Central Office or Outside Plant experience preferred
