Field Test Engineer Job in York/Lancaster, Pennsylvania US

Job Description

 

·         Execute Lab and Field whole vehicle evaluation on combine projects. Support completion of projects, development of results / conclusions and collaborate with Engineering to improve flagship combine products.  

·         Field - Evaluate operational performance of pre-production test vehicles and components. Make recommendations for enhancement of vehicle performance. Benchmark product within product family line and against competition. Competency is desired on combine harvesting vehicles.

·         Lab - Evaluate operational performance of vehicle subsystems in the Functional Development Labs (FDL) for flagship combine functional competencies (feeding, threshing, cleaning, grain and residue handling).

·         Secondary skills – Competency with data acquisition (noise, vibration, speed, mechanical torque, hydraulic pressure, hydraulic flow and electrical / electronic sensors, etc). Execute plan to acquire and interpret results and present information to Engineering.

·         Evaluate machine performance, diagnose component and system malfunctions, isolate problems and recommend improvements in the development of combine harvesting equipment and their associated equipment.

·         Determine the acceptability of prototype product designs and make recommendations to enhance performance, reliability/durability and product margin.

·         Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair issues related to the functional systems of the product. Competency is desired in the following areas: engines, powertrain, fluid power, cabs, controls, HVAC systems and electrical/electronic/software systems.

·         Evaluate customer appeal and value of product features. Areas of interest would include: cab / operator environment, trim styling, serviceability and safety.

·         Submit timely and concise machine activity reports, including documentation of findings of specific observed incidents, parts installation / removal and completion of test requests. Maintain accurate and comprehensive test records for reference and analysis.

·         Audit production and pre-production equipment produced at CNH manufacturing facilities. Inspect, repair, rework and update test machines / components as required to maintain operation and keep current with design changes.

·         Maintain the company provided equipment to support testing such as service vehicles, trailers, test equipment and tools for efficient operation.

·         Work directly with other members (internal customers) of the Platform Team including design, marketing and manufacturing, as well as other test organizations within CNH.

Requirements

 

·         Bachelor’s degree in technical or engineering discipline.

·         Operational competency with combine harvesting equipment.

·         Experience in troubleshooting off-road mobile hydraulics applications.

·         Understanding of the principles of sensing and measurement techniques.

·         Experience with vehicle CAN bus.

·         Excellent computer skills. The candidate should be experienced with personal computers, MS Office products and databases.

·         Candidates require a technical and functional understanding of subsystems that contribute to the operational performance of off-road self-propelled vehicles, including engine, mechanical drives, fluid power and electrical/electronic/software systems.

·         Good oral and written communication skills.

·         Demonstrated ability to work with cross discipline teams as well as being a strong individual contributor.

·         Capable of traveling to worldwide test locations for extended periods of time (40% of the time in 4 week intervals). Qualified or willing to become qualified to drive service support vehicles with trailers up to 26,000 lbs GCVW.
