Role Description

Reports to:    COO – Americas CIB Finance

There is flexibility around the level of this role dependant on skills and experience. 

For this reason, we welcome applications from candidates VP level

Goal

In light of recent market issues, we face an increasing number of regulatory changes as well as closer scrutiny from the regulators across all markets.   With the increased level of regulatory activity impacting multiple areas of the CIB organization, we require an experienced candidate who can monitor and understand the evolving regulation across the region, ensure that CIB Finance is aware of the changing regulatory landscape and facilitate the coordination of a CIB Finance wide response.  The role requires proactive engagement with ICO and regulatory authorities around the region to both become a valued advisor on new regulation and to create positive working relationships for future audits.

Responsibilities

•  Monitor and participate in all regional audits (internal external) and follow up all outstanding regulatory issues with the appropriate CIB Finance management

•  Monitor regional regulatory developments through:

•       Networking with Regional Finance, ICO, GBS, Compliance and CIB Finance management on proposed/ new regulation.

•       Working with local Compliance and CIB Finance management to respond to regulatory consultation and discussion papers.

•       Acting as coordination point for regulatory communications

•       Acting as coordination point for Trade and Industry Association communications.

•  Assist in maintaining CIB Finance’s compliance with regulatory requirements throughout the region.  Ensure that all functions of CIB Finance are aware of regulatory changes and trends, both within Americas and globally (i.e. those that impact Americas)

•   Coordinate across CIB Finance RTB and CTB teams to deliver requirements for technology solutions needed

•  Provide MI and analysis of regional regulatory developments to CIB Finance Management and other key stakeholders.

•  Provide support  to CIB Finance teams in Americas including:

•       Responses to ad-hoc regulatory requests to include analysis of the request, clarification where required and liaison with relevant business/infrastructure areas to collate information

•       Examination/review requests (ad-hoc scheduled) from Regulators to include analysis of the request, clarification where required, pre-meeting briefings with relevant business/infrastructure areas, summarising meeting outputs, communicating to senior management (where appropriate) and tracking to resolution of any follow-up actions

•  Ensure a regulatory control mindset, framework and methodology exists within  CIB Finance including on regulatory matters and emerging trends

•  Liaise with global CIB Finance colleagues across regions to leverage information already provided to non-Americas Regulators when dealing with regional regulatory requests for information.

Qualifications Experience

Essential:

Proven track record in:

•          7 to 10 years of broad industry experience in Americas financial sector regulatory field as well as  financial control and reporting (USGAAP, IFRS, local regulatory requirements, balance sheet, RWA and capital usage)

•          Strong interest and understanding of risk and regulatory issues

•          Experience establishing and managing teams

•          Strong project management skills

•          Experience working with internal and external regulatory/auditors

•          Excellent organizational and coordination skills with the ability to work on multiple projects at the same time

•          Excellent working knowledge of all MS Office products (especially PowerPoint and Excel )

•          Team player, collaborative and at the same time able to work independently

•          Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•          Ability to deliver within tight deadlines

•          Negotiation skills

Professional and Personal Qualifications:

•          ACA/CPA, CFA and/or MBA preferred
