Job Role Overview:

Within CIB Finance, the Pan-Business Central group is focused on delivering key regional financial reporting that analyses the main areas of performance (e.g.  revenues, costs, balance sheet and capital/risk weighted asset utilization) on a business line and regional basis.  Given the broad perspective of business performance that is monitored in this group, a regional strategy position is being defined to lead future events impacts (e.g. regulatory reform, changes in accounting rules) and strategic deep dives that may be initiated by Front Office CIB Management or by Finance Regional or Global Management. 

The strategy role is initially expected to be project based with initiatives being medium term (1-3 months) to long term (6+ month up to 2 years +).  Primary responsibilities will be to assess the role Finance is to play, design the approach/processes required for data gathering and analysis, organizing resources and coordinating the roll out across the various businesses. Interaction will be with all functions within CIB Finance regional and globally (FD/M, Analytics, GVG and COO) as well as Americas Regional Finance. 

Role Responsibilities:

Pre-Requisites

• 10 - 15+ years experience in one or a combo of Finance/Accounting at a Financial Institution, regulatory experience, structured products or change the bank. 

• Bachelors degree; MBA or other advanced degree preferable or CPA/CFA certification.

• Strong analytical skills.  Good understanding of accounting and regulatory capital rules (IFRS/US GAAP, Basel II) would be an advantage.

• Knowledge and experience with multiple asset classes (derivatives, loans, illiquid assets, etc).

• Skilled at integrating internal and external information and turning findings or raw data into meaningful conclusions at a product, business, regional and global level.

• Excellent business acumen with strong business advisory and partnership skills.  Comfortable applying judgment to expected impact of pending regulations. 

• Proven experience delivering solutions to stakeholders (more than just providing transparency or executing tasks). 

• Robust project management and consulting skill set (problem structuring, scoping, planning, management).

• Highly effective organizational skills.  Tenacity for the success of the initiative at hand.  Flexible to approach implemented to achieve desired outcome. 

• Strong oral and written presentation skills appropriate for senior management.   Ability to influence peers and other departments within the Bank is critical for success in this role.

• Good relationship building and stakeholder management capabilities

• Practices ‘over communication‘ so responsible parties are fully aware, knowledgeable and informed of their responsibilities. 

• Proven track record of leadership, ownership, creativity, innovation, and initiative.

• Strong information management technical competence a plus:   Advanced Excel, Access and PowerPoint skills.

• Adaptable to fast-paced and unexpected change.
