Financial Accountant (12 month fixed term contract)

Diamond Light Source is the UK's synchrotron. It works like a giant microscope, harnessing the power of electrons to produce bright light that scientists can use to study anything from fossils to jet engines to viruses and vaccines.
A unique opportunity has arisen to join Diamond Light Source, you will play a pivotal role within the finance team as Financial Accountant. The role will be responsible for producing the financial/management accounts and subsequent monthly reporting packs for Diamond and present results to Senior Finance. The role will also be heavily involved in ensuring and implementing controls and processes around financial tasks and conducting necessary reviews. You will have a broad remit, including contributing towards the annual budgeting process and quarterly reforecasting, support the year end production of annual statutory accounts, report on monthly VAT allocations, provide cover for the Finance Manager as required.
You will be a highly skilled individual, preferably a Qualified Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) with a sound understanding of monthly reporting, annual accounts and a good comprehension of VAT.
The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic with a proactive attitude to problem solving. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential as is attention to detail and highly developed IT skills. An ability to use own initiative and prioritise effectively is also highly relevant to this role. Strong/advanced Excel skills are required.
The role offers a salary range of £41,953 - £43,077 with a £2,000 discretionary bonus on completing the full 12 months and significant benefits including Flexi-time, generous pension, 25 days holiday + bank holidays.
