Marrone Bio Innovations (MBI) is a global provider of natural products serving the ever expanding agricultural and water markets. Venture capital financed and headquartered in Davis, California, the company focuses on discovering, developing, and marketing natural pest management products for the effective control of pests, weeds, plant diseases, and invasive species.

 

We are currently looking for a Financial Analyst.  The Financial Analyst will play a key role in financial planning, analysis, and report of the company’s financial activities.  This position will report to the Director of Finance, and will interact closely with the accounting department as well as with the company’s other business units.  The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated self-starter, a creative problem solver, with a strong desire to make an important contribution to the financial management of a dynamic and fast growing company.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Responsibilities include:

·         Develop, interpret, and implement financial concepts for financial planning and control.

·         Perform technical analysis to determine present and future financial performance

·         Gather, analyze, prepare, and summarize recommendations for financial plans, trended future requirements, and operating forecasts.

·         Will perform economic research on markets, deals, equity transactions

·         Research and prepare evaluations on a variety of projects/problems – financial, statistical and market analysis.

·         Develop financial models; collect and evaluate data, analyze results, and make recommendations.

·         Design and produce analyses/reports for department and/or management

·         Provide policy guidance and interpretations to ensure financial records are consistent and comply with company policies and GAAP

·         Will develop, summarize and present complex financial information to management, investors and board of directors

·         Experience in Agricultural or Water Technologies a definite plus. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·         Bachelor or master degree in Business Administration highly recommended, and minimum of 3-5 years’ experience working as a financial analyst or similar role.

·         Strong skill set with Excel, PowerPoint, Access and data mining tools such as Hyperion, Cognos, with experience in trending, projections, data analysis, financial modeling, and other advanced functions.

·         Ability to create written reports and documents from a data user perspective.

·         Experience with putting financial information into PowerPoint for presentations.

·         Database query knowledge is highly preferred.

·         Small to mid-company financial analyst experience preferred, but will consider candidates with a relevant mix of experience and abilities.

·         Manufacturing (fermentation) analysis a plus

·         Finance and Accounting related certifications and designations a plus

 

Essential Physical Mental Functions:

Given the nature of the Financial Analyst position it is critical that the person performing this duty has a great attention to detail and is able to concentrate for long periods of time and produce very high quality work product needing minimal review by management. There will be periods of intensity, particularly during the preparation of the financial statements and associated reports for presentation to the Board of Directors.

The salary range is competitive.
