Financial Control Accountant recruitment

This position sits within the IFRS team, which reports to the Head of Financial Reporting, and is responsible for ensuring the integrity of financial accounting reported by the Bank in London, and for ensuring that information is provided on a timely basis, along with all supporting documentation including:
- the quarterly IFRS submissions, which are subject to review by the Bank’s auditors;
- the Bank’s local IFRS reporting requirements including the preparation of the annual report and accounts; and
- the monthly and daily reporting.

The IFRS team works closely with the Management Information team to ensure the consistency of the Bank's internal and external reporting.
A key control over the Group’s internal and external reporting processes is the monthly Balance Sheet Substantiation (BSS) process. As the process has been evolving, it has been resourced jointly by the IFRS MI teams. However, we are now seeking to migrate this function fully to the IFRS team, to provide a dedicated resource, to increase the comfort we get from the BSS process and the robustness of the financial control framework. This is the prime reason for the development of this new role, which will offer the successful candidate with an excellent opportunity to identify and deliver improvements in the financial control process.

The team is also a key stakeholder in the development of a data warehouse IT solution, that adds value to the business and aids the Bank’s decision making process while at the same time providing a responsive infrastructure to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the Bank’s financial reporting requirements.

Key competencies:

- Qualified accountant, with strong audit experience (likely to be ACA, with 2+ years PQE) in a financial services background
- Good IFRS practical experience
- Ability to work independently and report findings to senior management in clear, jargon-free language
- Ability to assess risk in a practical context, rather than following standard audit procedures without question.
