Department criteria / Overview of role :

The Corporate Reporting and Control (CRC) group within Finance comprise a close-knit team of around 60 people. There are 4 main teams which cover: Financial Control, Regulatory Control, Finance Systems and MIS. These teams are supported by Accounting Policy and Regulatory Policy teams who sit alongside and are on hand to assist.

You do not need previous in house experience and candidates looking to make their first move from practice to investment banking would be considered.

Key responsibilities will include:

Role is within a team of five, reporting to a team leader for Nomura's main European Broker/Dealer. The team comprises qualified accountants with varying levels of experience with its main responsibility being for month/quarter-end reporting to the Japanese parent under US GAAP, and under UK GAAP for local statutory and regulatory requirements. Additionally, there are a number of subsidiaries controlled by the team offering the opportunity for sole control of their reporting.

The main challenges in the role are: to gain a full understanding of major entity processes, including monthly US GAAP reporting to Tokyo, FSA reporting, intergroup reimbursement and reconciliation, with a focus on ongoing improvements to the processes and procedures of the team. Alongside these challenges the expectation is that the candidate will acquire a good understanding of the business lines and contribute to department-wide project work over time.
