The Role
This is a wide ranging financial controller role reporting to the CFO. Pure fund accountants will not be appropriate. All administration, fund and management accounting performed in house at London office. The start date will be April 2012 for contract until early June 2013. The role has two distinct areas of accounting responsibility and includes the following:
Management and Advisory companies (UK GAAP)
- Preparation of annual budget and quarterly management accounts versus budget for presentation to Partners
- Cash management including weekly cash requirement analysis and preparation of monthly cash flow across all management and advisory entities
- Work closely with management accountant on maintaining the books/general ledger of the management entities.
- Liaising with offshore administrators on offshore accounts issues.
- Review of quarterly management accounts of group entities prepared by offshore administrators
- Review of annual accounts prepared by management accountant
- Co-ordinating year end audits onshore and offshore
- Negotiating fees with service providers and monitoring these
- Organising hedging where necessary
- Preparation of annual tax return with tax advisors and review of VAT returns
- Review of quarterly FSA reporting and assist with FSA/Compliance issues
- Manage qualified Management Accountant
Funds
- Working with and providing supervisory support to Fund accountant in preparing and reviewing quarterly Fund accounts
- Preparation/review of year end Fund financials
- Dealing with fund structuring issues and reconciliations
- Reviewing calculations for cash distributions to investors
- Approving investment wires
- Dealing with lawyers on various legal issues such as fund structuring, transfers of investments, investment agreements
- Management of General Partner and other group entities including capital calls, distributions and management accounts
- Preparation of information for annual investor meeting
Who they are looking for
To be considered for this role you must:
- Be a high calibre chartered / certified accountant. Preferably big / mid tier firm trained.
- Be technically strong
- Have prior experience at a VC or PE firm or investment arm of a bank
- Have fund accounting experience as well as financial control
- Attention to detail, team player, flexible, well organised
- Proficient in excel
