OVERVIEW:

Global Banking and Markets (GBM), the Corporate and Investment Banking division of Scotiabank, provides a full range of investment banking, credit and risk management products and services relevant to the financing and strategic development needs of our clients. The Global Capital Markets unit of GBM has derivative, fixed income, equity, foreign exchange and precious metals sales and trading operations in Toronto, New York, London, Mexico and the Far East.

Global Analytics and Financial Engineering is part of Global Capital Markets headquartered in Toronto. We work closely with the trading and marketing desks, to develop new product and transaction capabilities, which includes leading infrastructure projects for new business initiatives, as well as developing financial models, hedging strategies, and analytics. We work with Credit, Equity, Energy, and Interest Rate Derivatives and with the Funding, Fixed Income, Equity, Prime Finance, Precious Metals and Foreign Exchange desks globally. The business demands constant innovation, both in the development of the financial products and in the enabling infrastructure. The environment is highly dynamic and the group is very team and results oriented.

At Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets we are continually improving our trade floor analytics and management information systems. In response to the new regulatory environment we are expanding our capability to deliver more agile and sophisticated MIS tools to improve analysis and decision making. This project will be delivering analysis to senior management, focusing on developing systems for all the trading desks across the trade floor.

We are seeking a dynamic, high performance, results oriented individual to assist our trade floor analytics team to develop the necessary technology and infrastructure to optimize trading management decisions. The individual will work across multiple trading business lines, interacting with trading staff and management to design and develop suitable solutions.

POSITION SUMMARY:

. Design and develop Management Information Systems covering revenue, capital, funding, and balance sheet processes
. Design and develop reporting databases by consolidating data from multiple sources and producing robust and scalable architecture
. Design and develop client and sales profitability analysis
. Develop analytic tools to optimize business line, portfolio and trade decisions

QUALIFICATIONS:

. Strong programming skills, preferably: SQL, Python, VBA, Unix Shell, Perl, JavaScript
. Strong analytic and problem solving skills
. Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, or Engineering
. High performance, pragmatic, detail oriented person, able to work well independently as well as in a team, while fostering consensus in a complex, demanding and fast-paced environment
. Ability to work on multiple projects at once, while routinely reprioritizing key deliverables
. Familiarity with relational database structures and design
