Financial Intermediary Markets (FIM) Business Developer
In Australia, UBS is a leader in Wealth Management, with a comprehensive range of products services including discretionary and advisory portfolio construction advice and execution across equities, fixed income, cash and alternative asset classes. Through the global reach of UBS, Australian clients can access all major international securities markets, and can hold assets or liabilities in 15 currencies.
Reporting in to the FIM Desk Head, the successful candidate will utilise their strong communication skills to build and manage relationships within the national Independent Financial Advisors (IFA) network to generate revenue opportunities for UBS Australia’s FIM service offering.
The FIM Business Developer role has 3 key components:
- Identify and build high-quality client relationships within the FIM market
- Focus on selling UBS WM Australia’s Financial Intermediary services to financial intermediaries across Australia to drive business growth
- Develop and refine UBS WMAU’s FIM Service Offering (in conjunction with the FIM Desk Head
The incumbent is expected to achieve pre-defined revenue goals; will be responsible for generating their own leads and will manage the sales process through to closure. S/he will maintain periodic contact with existing clients and acts as a liaison between the client and the FIM Desk for various activities (e.g. account onboarding).
Key responsibilities include:
- Profitability: generating new business, driving growth and volume
- Sales management: generating activity, execution and lead generation
- Developing and managing an effective referral plan in order to achieve annual revenue and growth targets;
- Being responsible for building and maintaining an active portfolio of IFA clients and prospects
- Prospecting and generating new sales leads and growth through referrals, cold-calling and market research
- Following-up leads from external sources and within UBS
- Staying informed about the financial markets in order to spot trends, look for new opportunities, and establish credibility with our clients by understanding their business.
Some interstate travel is required in the role.
Requirements
- The successful candidate will possess 7+ years of related experience, preferably in Wealth Management Sales or Wrap Sales/ Business Development
- Experience and an understanding of the Financial Intermediary landscape in Australia is required
- A proven track record in achieving sales objectives and prospecting in the FIM space is critical
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, coupled with RG 146 accreditation
- A high degree of initiative, self-motivation, flexibility, and drive
- Extensive knowledge of and genuine interest in Financial Services (in particular servicing IFAs)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A team-oriented approach, as well as the confidence to act autonomously
- Good planning skills and ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
- Experience managing high profile, demanding relationships as well as a proven ability to build and maintain solid client relationships
- Well-developed influencing and negotiating skills
