Financial Reports Analyst – Statistics recruitment
The Federal Reserve Bank of New York is one of 12 regional Reserve Banks which, collectively with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., is responsible for formulating and executing monetary policy, and supervising and regulating depository institutions. Currently, the New York Fed has several openings for Reports Analyst positions within our Statistics Function that offer competitive salaries, superb benefits and excellent advancement opportunities.
The Regulatory Reports Division collects, processes, monitors the accuracy of, and analyzes financial statements received from Bank Holding Companies, State Member Banks and U.S. Branches and Agencies of Foreign Banks. These data are used by the Bank Supervision Staff of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York to aid in monitoring the safety and soundness of the banking system. The Division also cooperates with other departments in the Bank and with the staff of the Board of Governors in conducting statistical studies and surveys. Analysts in the Regulatory Reports Division analyze issues associated with large complex organizations researching information for cross-institutional and broad themes and trends. In addition, analysts recommend reporting guidance on transactions, financial instruments and accounting practices.
- Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial instruments and capital markets
- Knowledge of Federal Reserve Regulations (Reg. K, Reg. W and Reg. Y)
Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze aggregate data and prepare well though-out, detailed analyses of trends based on sound conclusions ;
- Recommend reporting guidance on transactions, financial instruments and accounting practices;
- Participate in on-site bank examinations;
- Participate in training seminars by designing and presenting information on current reporting requirements and interpretation of regulations;
- Make recommendations that will improve accuracy and timeliness of data reporting
Skills
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, or Business
- A proven record of strong quantitative and analytical thinking skills demonstrated by the ability to understand complex and technical topics and arrive at sound judgments;
- Analyze aggregate data and prepare well thought-out and detailed analyses of underlying trends;
- Ability to think critically and make recommendations to improve workflow and service levels;
- Excellent organization and self management skills;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills;
- Detail oriented and proven ability to assimilate new information quickly;
- Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of staff and management at this Bank, other Reserve Banks, regulatory agencies, and regulated institutions; and
- Manage multiple tasks independently, while consistently providing high quality and timely products.
