Financial Stability Market Monitoring Analyst- Markets recruitment

The Financial Stability Market Monitoring (FSMM) staff seeks an experienced capital markets analyst to facilitate and carry out the assessment of systemic risk. In particular, the analyst will be expected to conduct detailed analysis on cash and derivative securities markets and related infrastructure to help identify emerging and existent risks. The candidate will also help assess the inter-related dynamics among various financial markets, instruments, and institutions, as well as facilitate and promote the Desk's analysis of systemic risk. The ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively are therefore also important attributes, in addition to exceptional knowledge of financial intermediaries, instruments, and markets.

Responsibilities

· Present analysis to senior Bank and other Federal Reserve officials on the evolution of risks and innovations in global finance, as well as potential policy responses

· Collaborate with other FRBNY Groups and Federal Reserve colleagues in cross-disciplinary projects to understand the impact of leverage, financing, investor flows, positioning, new investment vehicles and instruments on financial stability

· Assess macroeconomic and financial vulnerabilities using a variety of data sources, including international capital flows, indicators of monetary policy stance, foreign exchange developments, as well as the price, quantity, and degree of leverage among households and financial and nonfinancial institutions

· Liaise with MOMA management and staff to ensure FSMM work is integrated effectively into MOMA core products

Skills

· Graduate degree in economics, finance, business, public policy, or a related field

· A minimum of 4 years of work experience

· Detailed knowledge of specific financial products, infrastructure, and risk management techniques

· Exceptional aptitude in the analysis of financial markets and institutions

· Ability to distill macro prudential themes from diverse sets of macroeconomic and financial data sources

· Ability to work collaboratively as a part of a team as well as work independently

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to articulate complex issues succinctly and to arrive at sound conclusions

· Familiarity with the Markets Group approach to global market monitoring is a plus

This position requires access to FOMC information, which is limited to 'Protected Individuals' as defined in the U.S. federal immigration law. Protected Individuals include, but are not limited to, U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, U.S. permanent residents who are not yet eligible to apply for naturalization, and U.S. permanent residents who have applied for naturalization within six months of being eligible to do so.
