Financial Systems Software Developer
Our client is a leading Investment Management company looking to recruit a Financial Systems Software Developer to work on front office systems projects. This role will be working on all phases of the SDLC.
The successful candidate will work on both large-scale strategic company programmes as well as working on very specific tactical projects. The types of projects will include, portfolio management applications, front office analysis tools as well as middle office applications such as invoice calculation and statement production systems.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Analysis and Design – understand and interpret business requirements into high level solutions, thereafter develop business specifications and conduct design walkthroughs in order to achieve formal sign-off for the technical solution
- Programming - write code to enhance or maintain products and services
- Unit and Integration Testing
- Implementation – responsible for the roll-out of code produced in accordance with formalised change management procedures. Assist in technical upgrades, implementing new product releases
- Documentation – responsible for commenting their code and where required producing formal documentation
- Investigations - responsible for undertaking technical investigations and delivering proposals, for example on software performance issues
- Technical Support - provide technical support and advice to other areas of the company, as necessary
- Propose improvements to the system, either in terms of its functionality, run-time efficiency or maintainability
- Follow the company’s quality procedures and standards
The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Excellent Programming skills and aptitude
- 2 years proven experience gained within a financial services firm
- Strong analytical skills and a sound understanding of the fundamentals behind software engineering and an interest in financial and capital markets
- A good understanding of object orientated programming and familiarity with automated testing techniques
- Experience using PHP, JavaScript, C#, VBA HTML, MySQL, Oracle and XML-based data sources technologies in a business environment
- Knowledge of Windows 2008 domain administration, virtualisation, hardware, networking and network protocolsA flexible, entrepreneurial approach to work and an appetite for challenges
- Commercial experience of software development lifecycles
- The ability to work autonomously
- Software testing techniques and tools
You will need to demonstrate drive, motivation and professionalism and due to the nature of this role you must have excellent communication skills. Teamwork is core to the role along with a “passion for the detail”.
