Firefighter
Job Description: Requires basic skills and knowledge of fire fighting, HazMat and EMS techniques in responding to emergency situations, under the direction of Supervisory personnel or Engine Officer working under the direction of Supervision. Capable of operating and maintaining fire vehicles and equipment, hose lines, Self Contained Breathing Apparatus, and other basic Firefighter, E.M.S., and HazMat tools as needed. Maintains basic HazMat certification at the Awareness and Operations level, either I.F.S.A.C., ProBoard or D.o.D certified. Must be able to obtain a National or State of Arizona Basic EMT certification within one year of employment at the discretion of the company. The E.M.T. certification is a job requirement. Must have three years verifiable experience within the past six years as a structural firefighter that includes HazMat and EMS experience. Must maintain all required certifications throughout employment to include Arizona/National EMT certification and a valid AZ Drivers License. HazMat Operations certification as stated above. Must maintain a high level of physical fitness to N.F.P.A. standards for structural Firefighters. Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance. Required Education is high school/GED, some college level Fire Science work preferred. Special Work Environment: Must be able to work in fast-paced environment. May be required to spend long hours in direct sunlight, heat, cold and other adverse environmental conditions while wearing Firefighter or Haz Mat P.P.E. Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal. Regular duties require individual to be mobile and capable of working with all tools required to perform tasks. Must work 24 hour rotating shifts and be subject to mandatory overtime when called. Under the present contract "sleep time" is exempted Required Skills: Must be able to complete and pass a Physical exam by a Physician (s) representing Raytheon to N.F.P.A. 1582 · May be asked to successfully complete a Physical ability exam · D.o.D, IFSAC or Proboard certifications for Firefighter I and II and Driver/Operator · 3 years progressive experience with a recognized Fire Department · Current AZ or National Registry EMT Certification within one year if agreed to by the company · HazMat Awareness and Operations level Certification · Ability to be granted a Secret Clearance Desired Skills: · DoD certifications · Arizona or Nationally Certified Paramedic certification · Haz Mat Technician Certification · Associates degree or better in Fire Science or related field Required Education (including Major): High School or G.E.D.
