Position Description
We are recruiting for a Fixed Income Senior Analyst/Associate within the Global Capital Markets (GCM) group in Public Market Investments based in Toronto. GCM is responsible for all transactions in public market securities, supporting internal active management programs, as well as the implementation and management of the fund’s passive portfolio.
The Candidate will primarily be responsible for managing a fixed income portfolio, which includes calculating and explaining performance differences between the portfolio and the broadly followed Fixed Income Indices, reconciling portfolio returns with internal performance measurement, portfolio rebalancing, making recommendations on portfolio return enhancement strategies, as well as, assist with passive index management.
Role Specific Accountabilities
General accountabilities include working as part of the Global Capital Market’s Fixed Income trading group to build portfolio tools, calculate the portfolio and index performance, and assist in managing an optimal Fixed Income portfolio that tracks Government market indices. The position will report to the Senior Portfolio Manager and Head of Fixed Income Execution.
Position Requirements
If you possess the following, we’d like to hear from you:
- 3 - 5 years experience at a Canadian Fixed Income Index Fund focusing on rebalancing and performance measurement
- University undergraduate degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science or comparable degree
- Strong working knowledge in math, finance, economics, and statistics
- Good understanding of financial capital markets and strong interest and knowledge of current business news topics
- Ability to grasp complex concepts and communicate them in a concise and clear manner
- Demonstrates intuition and intellectually sound judgment in making decisions related to assigned duties
- Adaptable and able to work in a team environment
- Strong experience working with Excel, Bloomberg and electronic trading platforms
- A minimum of one year working experience with C++, VBA, SQL, Python/Pearl
- Advanced Excel, Matlab, macro databases (MYSQL, MS SQL, Oracle, Access) knowledge is an asset
- CFA designation is an asset
- Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience in verbal and written communication
- Ability to prioritize and multitask while maintaining organization and quality of work
- Ability to work and learn quickly in a high performing culture, under pressure and with time-sensitive deadlines
- Self-motivated, flexible, reliable and someone who takes pride and ownership in his/her work
- Conduct consistent with our Guiding Principles of Integrity, Partnership and High Performance
