Forensic Nurse Practitioner

FORENSIC NURSE PRACTITIONER – Somerset

Hays Healthcare is working with a highly respected client who are experts and market leaders in supporting leading public organisations with the provision of essential support services. This role, based in Somerset, requires a committed Forensic Nurse Practitioner for a permanent position.

The Forensic Nurse Practitioner will provide assessments and care for detainees, victims and staff in the Police Custody Suites and Force area.

Main Principal Duties Responsibilities:

* To deliver the requirements of the forensic practitioner service following the Codes of Practice of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 and the locally agreed protocols.
* Provide advice and support to custody officers in determining the health care needs of detainees and the priorities of care.
* Work with other members of the team to ensure that the service is provided at all times.
* Assist in the training of new team members
* Develop positive working relationships with the Consultant FMEs and doctors, custody staff, police officers, local health organisations, drug referral workers, and other organisations which can contribute to the excellence of the service.
* Keep accurate, complete and contemporaneous notes of work carried out, including the recording of injuries.

* The ability to identify the needs of internal and external customers, adding value by exceeding these through the quality of service provided.
* Leads by example and coaching, acts as a role model to others.
* Identifies opportunities to improve efficiency of processes.
* The ability to prioritise and manage workloads effectively.

Person Specification:

* UK resident for at least 36 months.
* Full UK driving licence
* Registered RGN / RMN
* Competent in written and oral English
* Full membership of the NMC
* Previous nursing experience within a custody or A E environment would be desirable.
