Forestry Tasmania in conjunction with tastec group training is offering an outstanding opportunity to begin a career in the Forestry Management Industry within Tasmania and gain a nationally recognised qualification.
Forestry Tasmania has the statutory responsibility for the management of 1.5 million hectares of State forest land. Successful applicants will work and learn alongside a dedicated, technically qualified and highly skilled team of forest officers. There are a number of trainee positions on offer which will be based in the Smithton, Scottsdale, Geeveston and Hobart areas providing support across the surrounding regional areas.
Duties will include but not be limited to assisting with:
- Establishing and maintaining new plantations
- Manage pest control programs, ensure plant survival and growth
- Manage/participate in horticultural and civil maintenance programs
- Ensure environmental sustainability and long term viability
- Project work such as trials, site rehabilitation etc.
The successful applicants will:
- Have completed Year 11 or equivalent education achievement
- Have an interest in Horticulture and the Forestry Industry
- Be able to work well in a team environment
- Have the ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
- Hold a current drivers license (or the ability to soon acquire one)
