Forging manager / engineer Job in Minden 71055, Louisiana Us
Forging production lead / engineer needed. A newly formed forging line to produce 60mm to 155mm mortar and artillery bodies and projectiles needs a strong supervisor / production lead. Current contracts exceed 5 years with more on the way. As well as moving outsourced forging work from the parent company to the new forging facility.
This candidate will report directly to the company President. They will be required to plan production schedule and capital investments to meet production needs. Handle repair schedule with supervision and hands on when required.
The candidate will be responsible for the supervision and assistance of upgrading several Erie 400 to 1,000 ton hydraulic presses, installation of new equipment, set up and prove out of the line.

Detailed job duties are:
• Forging process development and improvements.
• Standardizing work instructions and detailed control plans for forging and heat treat.
• Forging evaluation and optimization (Die Design input, Manufacturing Flow, supervise, and assist with Repair Work).
• Lean implementation throughout forging processes, focusing on minimizing transfer times, tooling, and automation.
• Support Engineering Department and DoD to assist with RD projects.
• Design and purchase of various components or fixtures in most cost effective manner as needed to support manufacturing needs.
• Maintain knowledge of current product flow between work centers.
• Lead manufacturing design reviews for new and complex parts or to review significant process changes and document the results in summary as well as ensuring any open action items are resolved.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• 10 years forging experience, projectile experience with 60mm to 155mm bodies a plus.
• Hands on knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic and cooling systems.
• Proficient with Solid Works or equivalent modeling software.
• Supervisory experience.
• Strong analytical skills and demonstrated problem solving abilities.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft office programs
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Must be results oriented with a strong desire to succeed.
• Solid verbal and written communication skills.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
• Familiar with manufacturing processes and product components.
• Experience with the following:
o Induction heating
o Lean Manufacturing
o Tooling experience
SALARY:
• This salaried position has a pay range between $65,000 to $90,000, based on individual’s qualifications with reference to the skills and abilities of the position for which he or she is being considered. The highest end of the range will be offered to experienced and degreed Engineers with industry relevant expertise that meets all the above requirements. Full-time position that includes a competitive benefits package, paid holidays and vacation, 401(k) and bonus plan.
Relocation to Muncie Indiana or Shreveport Louisiana required. Moving reimbursement available for the right candidate. Candidate can start immediately.
