Fortum – Market Analyst / Economist

Trading and Industrial Intelligence is Fortum's competence centre for commodity markets. It carries out asset backed trading and fuel management for Fortum's whole portfolio as well as proprietary trading. It provides Fortum's commodity market view for business divisions, corporate strategy, MA and external communications.
Your role
We are expanding our team and are therefore currently looking for a Market Analyst / Economist to be located Espoo, Finland or Stockholm, Sweden. You will be a member of the Market Analysis team, which is responsible for providing a well communicated, comprehensive and best in class understanding of the commodity markets relevant to Fortum. The view of commodity markets plays a central role in determining Fortum's trading and investment decisions as well as strategy development.
We offer you
You will be responsible for developing Fortum's view on macro fundamentals and trends globally and for relevant Fortum market areas. You will provide regular market commentary and take an active part in trading decisions. You will work closely with our global fuels team and participate in our long-term scenario work.
Your qualifications
We expect you to have a MSc degree in Economics with an excellent academic record. You have at least three years of experience from economic or fixed income research from the financial industry or the equivalent. Furthermore, you have very strong proven communication and presentation skills and a proactive and analytical mindset. You also have the ability to combine a big picture understanding with attention to details. You are an advanced user of econometric and statistical tools (e.g. Eviews, VBA, Matlab etc.).
In addition, you have good cooperation and team working skills. Experience from commodity markets and/or other financial markets are to your advantage.
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of Finnish, Swedish or Russian is to your advantage.
