Overview
The firm are one of the leading players within the systematic trading space in the US focused on cross asset trading within the medium to high frequency trading space. They are a firm that hire only twice a year and are now looking for 4 junior mathematical quants for their New York, California and Chicago offices with an emphasis on candidates with exceptional educational backgrounds from reputable institutions. The firm are offering a rigorous learning platform but a very exciting, fast paced and innovative research environment allowing candidates to take their strong academic skills from the academic to the commercial environment. In addition to strong academics the firm are also looking for candidates who can demonstrate additional forms of excellence such as relevant internships or mathematical contest winners.
This opportunity would involve the junior candidates working closely with senior quant traders in researching and developing the algorithms that form the basis of the firms trading models. It will be a very research and analytical environment with candidates bouncing off various ideas on how to solve complex mathematical problems. The opportunity also to grow and be a future leader of the firm is also very realistic with all the seniors of the firm coming from within. Mathematically the group are keen to speak to candidates who have exposure to stochastic processes, Bayesian techniques, Monte Carlo simulations, statistical modelling or scientific computing.
Profile
• Strong academic background in Mathematics, Physics, statistics or statistical machine learning form an established institution
• Technically strong in statistical packages with some exposure to object orientated code
• Relevant internships outside of finance are preferred
• Mathematical contest winners/ Olympiads are highly desirable
• Motivated by building a career as a quant trader and understand the expectations of the role
