Front Office Business Analyst Functional / Technical

My client is one of the world's major independent commodity trading companies, it is a market leader in the trade, transport, storage and optimization of oil and other energy products.

Position Overview

The Business Analyst will join the Swiss based Business Analysis team, and will report to the Head of Business Analysis.

This is a Client/User faced role. The successful candidate should be an experienced functional analyst in Front Office environments with a good understanding of Commodity Trading processes (physical commodities a must).

He/she will work closely with the users to gather business requirements and translate these into solution designs, provide functional support during the 'Agile development cycle' and conduct/coordinate UAT, in close collaboration with the key users and Trading Systems support teams, on delivered functionality by the development team.

Must have a pro-active delivery/user focused attitude and determination to ensure a seamless transition of requirements between the Business and Development teams. Should also have experience working as part of an Agile delivery based environment in order to produce well-formed 'user stories' with design assets and acceptance criteria.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, needed in a fast-moving and dynamic trading environment.

Essential Skills:

- 5+ years of relevant Functional Analysis experience

- Solid appreciation of the end to end Trading Lifecycle for physical commodities, preferably within the Oil, Energy or Metal sector;

- Understanding of Agile methodology and artifacts (user stories, acceptance tests)

- Ability to exercise flexibility, demonstrate initiative to ensure the business support needs are met in a proactive manner

- Fluent in English (spoken and drafting skills), ability to draft deliverables

- Highly organized and possesses problem solving skills

- Good interpersonal skills and able to interact with users, as well as with other technical/IT colleagues from various countries and cultures

- Understanding and previous experience in change control processes

- Ability to document processes, requirements and associated deliverables

Highly Desirable:

- Quality Assurance experience

- SQL Server experience

- Business Intelligence tool(s), dashboards, reports generation, data mining / analysis concepts

- Document Management (Microsoft SharePoint)
