Front Office Network Engineer (Cisco, CCNA, Linux Administration,)– London recruitment

My client is a leading Commodities, Financial Futures and Options Brokers, with a strong and established market reputation. Through continued success and expansion, we have a requirement for a strong 2nd line technical support/network engineer to join the team in London. You will have broad experience with Linux and Cisco deployments and be able to plan and deliver enhancements to the server and network trading infrastructure. Hands on exposure of current projects will include a new datacentre roll out with financial exchange implementations, WAN enhancements between London and HK, and enhancing the monitoring solutions. Main Responsibilities for Network Engineer (Cisco, CCNA, Linux Administration, Derivatives Trading)

• 2nd line technical support to the IS Support departments

• 2nd line support of exchange network connectivity, working closely with third party providers, exchanges and network providers

• Maintenance and support of the global network, Cisco routing and switching, firewalls. EIGRP, OSPF,BGP,multicast,VPN’s,loadbalancers

• Some element of technical design, project planning and delivery

• Cisco infrastructure support and monitoring of in-house trading systems on Redhat Linux

• Out of hours work during weekends will be necessary for network changes

• Escalation and monitoring of 1st line calls to ensure a timely response and resolution

• Provide technical feedback to developers to enhance the trading and IT systems at Sucden

Skill Requirements for Network Engineer (Cisco, CCNA, Linux Administration, Derivatives Trading)

• Cisco Network experience. At least 3 year’s CCNA or equiv hands-on experience (ie. CCNP)

• Demonstrate good troubleshooting skills. Ability to work on own initiative

• Linux tools and basic Linux administraton (Redhat Server)

• Windows XP, Solaris, Linux Redhat Microsoft Server 2003 / 2008

• Educated to degree level

• Worked in a derivatives trading support or similar function in a previous position.
