BUSINESS NEED

FTSE has become a significant and influential part of financial markets worldwide and has strong relationships within the financial service industry and with government and regulatory agencies worldwide. 

As a member of the Research Analytics Team, the Analyst is at the hub of the business.

Key Functions and Responsibilities

Reporting to a Senior Manager within the Research Analytics Department, and working within a team, the individual will be responsible for monitoring Data Quality.  Key areas of responsibility are:

• Monitoring the quality of the raw data components and derived data

• Assisting in putting quality control checks in place and continually monitoring same

• Assisting in combining data from FTSE sources and third party vendors 

• Assisting in the production of regular reports and in new product development

Key aspects of the position are:

• A solid background in understanding fundamental data

• The candidate must have an understanding of the importance of data quality to clients

• An  understanding of valuation ratio analysis e.g. PE, PB etc.

• Some exposure to the treatment of Corporate actions, mergers etc. Experience in combining data across data sources and familiarity in dealing with currency, corporate actions and multiple share lines and related issues would be useful

Qualifications/Experience

It is expected with limited supervision the candidate will be able to deliver each of the key objectives of the role identified above. It is therefore expected that he or she will have:

•  A business qualification and/or a strong accounting/accounts analysis background.

• At least three years experience in working with fundamental data gained from working with a data vendor or in a research/analytical environment.

• Experience in using some of the following third party vendor platforms e.g. Thomson Reuters Worldscope, I/B/E/S, Datastream, FactSet  fundamentals/estimates, Bloomberg and/or similar in-house or proprietary databases.

• The candidate must have the drive to carry projects through to completion

• The candidate should have the ability to work well under their own initiative and as part of a Team in a dynamic working environment.

General

Some exposure to FTSE Indices (or other index data) and experience in using SQL Server or similar programming language would be useful but not essential.
