Gasoline Trader

We are well established Commodities Trading House based in Houston, Texas. We are now looking to hire an experienced physical Gasoline Trader to join our already very successful team.

The Gasoline Trader, reporting to the Trading Team Leader - Gasoline, will be responsible for developing trading activities on petroleum products in order to maximize profit and to observe compliance with Company’s Policies and Procedures.

Job Dimensions:
- Specific area of expertise: cargo market, pipeline trading and back-up support on blending operations.
- Leverage a broad relationship base to trade and optimize value of barrels bought/sold.
- Provide back-up support on blending and optimization of barrels in tank, selecting most economic grades of gasoline for blending in tanks.
- Gather data/research on cargo/barge market from third party end users, traders and brokers.
- Gather/respond to business needs of our term partners and the home office, as needed.
- Communicate trades to middle office via System and management.
- Coordinate hedging strategies on traded cargoes, barges and storage to take advantage of market structure opportunities along the forward curve.
- Value and monitor risk of overall portfolio, updating mark-to-market.
- Contribute to the development of the overall strategy of the book in coordination with senior management.
- Identify, negotiate and close trades on the cargo, barge and pipeline market.
- Share information/develop opportunities and execute trades with the Division Manager.                                  
- Share information/develop opportunities with other Traders.                                  
- Handle physical side of deal flow with Logistics.
- Exchange trade ideas, supply/component/finished gasoline needs with other blenders and end users.      
- Gather system needs, cargo length program for the month with Front Office in London.                   
- Select opportunities and counterparties to work with.
- Provide back-up support on selection of grades of gasoline components to be produced and components needed for production.  
- Negotiate terms and conditions within company guidelines.
- Compliance with Company Policy/Procedure, Inco Terms, pipeline specifications, Nymex, and US rules and regulations on energy trading, regulations and abide to SOA procedures.
- Perform additional administrative functions as needed (i.e. entering deal sheets into system).
- Assist with special projects as assigned.
- Specific area of expertise: Gulf Coast.

Person Specification:
- Bachelors degree in economics, finance or engineering or closely related field.
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in physical Gasoline trading with heavy analysis experience. General oil and gas industry experience and an understanding of NGL processing arrangements.
- Minimum of four (4) years experience in derivatives trading.
- Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft  Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to take initiative and be innovative.
- Profit oriented.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Effective organization skills with the ability to prioritize workload.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Acute attention to detail executed with minimal error margin.
- Knowledge of the news system Bloomberg or Reuters preferred.
