GE Appliance Metals Tooling Engineer Job
GE is investing $1 BILLION dollars to redesign our entire appliance line. The Metals Tooling Engineer will play a leading role in developing and sourcing new tooling and initial processing problem resolution. The Tooling Engineer will develop positive lines of communication between GE Appliances and our suppliers to drive best practice development including manufacturing process improvement, root cause analysis, problem resolution and maintaining existing tooling. Essential Responsibilities -Drive execution of NPI (New Product Introduction) tooling projects and support production by providing technical leadership for supplier held tooling. Will provide support to all GE Appliance businesses. -Work with GE product design function on metals part design for manufacturability, scoping tooling costs and schedules. -Assist GE parts suppliers, GE Supplier Quality Engineers and GE Buyers in developing appropriate, timely and cost effective new metals tooling while addressing current production tooling issues. -Work with tooling suppliers on adhering to good tooling design practice as well as adhering to GE Appliance tooling standards for new tooling. Qualifications/Requirements: -Minimum 5 years of experience in metals tooling -BS in Engineering or equivalent and/or Tooling Journeyman -Travel to suppliers and sites will be required. Travel will be a minimum of 25% of the time and will include international travel. -Self-starter, highly motivated, results oriented, customer focused. -Demonstrated root cause analysis and plan of action development experience Additional Eligibility Qualifications GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the United States for this opening. Desired Characteristics -Supplier held tool sourcing experience is considered desirable. -Proven team player with good interpersonal skills. -Experience with Industrial Business operations -Toolmakers design experience -Tooling process improvement experience -Experience with NPI programs. -Six Sigma Green Belt trained.
