Company Information:
Passy-Muir, Inc. is the leading manufacturer of swallowing and speaking valves for patients who are tracheostomized and/or ventilator dependent. Throughout its twenty years in the medical device industry, Passy-Muir, Inc. has earned a reputation for the highest quality of products backed by innovative educational materials, expert clinical support, and patient advocacy. Passy-Muir was founded by Patricia E. Passy and David A. Muir, a quadriplegic with Muscular Dystrophy who invented the valve for his own use. David was determined to reach other patients like himself who experience the isolation, frustration and loss of dignity associated with the inability to communicate. By restoring a patient's ability to speak, the Passy-Muir Valves restore a patient's autonomy, one's ability to ask questions about and consent to one's own care, the ability to express one's needs, wants and thoughts, and the ability to interact with friends and loved ones or return to work and/or school. As David knew first hand, communication is essential to the human spirit, individual rights, and dignity. David passed away in 1990, but his vision continues to drive Passy-Muir and provides our unique dedication to education and advocacy for the rights and care of our patients. This uncompromising commitment to our patients and David's vision requires dedication, excellence, and caring. A Passy-Muir, Inc. team member must be someone who has high standards for themselves and their work, someone who can collaborate and communicate effectively, and someone who can share in our mission.
