About the department

Global Banking is focused on supporting the international needs of Wells Fargo’s customers in the commercial and corporate segments of Wholesale Banking. The Global Banking team provides the primary global relationship management for a portfolio of high value, investment grade, European corporate relationships. The team underwrites and manages global credit exposures for these European corporate clients to support our relationship development in Europe, the US and other global markets.

Global Banking has two hubs in Europe, one at Wells Fargo Bank International in Dublin and the other at Wells Fargo Bank N.A., London Branch. Together they provide coverage for Wells Fargo’s customers throughout Europe. Wells Fargo and Global Banking are undergoing significant strategic growth in European markets, providing exciting opportunities for growth, professional challenge and career development.

Responsibilities

The primary areas of responsibility for the role are as follows:

•  Focus on analysis, underwriting, structuring and executing on high value corporate transactions for key relationship clients in partnership with senior relationship managers and executive management of the group.

•  Accountable for credit underwriting, portfolio monitoring, renewals and annual reviews of credit portfolio.

• Managing a credit portfolio of complex relationships within Global Banking.

• Working with senior management, relationship managers (RMs) and credit supervision to originate, monitor and grow global relationships.

• Assisting Senior Relationship Managers with loan negotiation and legal documentation.

• Managing and promoting the maintenance of a portfolio that adheres to all applicable credit policies and compliance requirements.

• Working with RMs to understand the credit and wider banking needs of clients and maintaining client relationships.

• Credit analysis and structuring of syndicated credits, bilateral credit, large transactional credit exposures, derivatives, US credit facilities, trade and structured finance for the Global Banking portfolio.

• Assisting with coordination of pricing, cross-sell and relationship profitability.

• Periodically assisting with key office risk management projects and support.

• Working in conjunction with the RMs to assist with managing overall account relationships.

• Responsibilities may also include training, supervision and/or monitoring of analysts or junior portfolio managers.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

• Strong analytical and accounting skills; ability to analyze financial statements for large, complex multinational clients.

• Extensive account relationship or credit underwriting management experience with established corporate banking team in a major global bank.

• Demonstrated underwriting experience involving advanced corporate relationship portfolio credit.

• Comprehensive knowledge of credit policy, loan servicing, risk management and group underwriting requirements.

• Strong experience in loan negotiation (rates, terms, collateral requirements) and knowledge of corporate banking products and services.
