Global GCEM Sales COO, Analyst – AVP, London recruitment
DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW
Global Currency Emerging Markets (GCEM) encompasses all of the FX and Fixed Income EM capabilities of the bank. It is a fully integrated global sales trading business operating in G10 FX Spot, Options, Forwards, Short Term Interest Rate Trading products and Emerging Markets FX, rates and credit. The business is significant in size in terms of people, financials, geographic coverage and products traded.
The GCEM Offshore Sales organization includes around 80 staff located in London, Zurich, New York Singapore who manage the relationships and delivery of the firm’s FX and EM capabilities to some of the world’s largest hedge funds, real money accounts, corporates and governments.
The GCEM Sales Management team currently comprises: Regional Sales Heads (EMEA, Americas, APAC), Global Heads of Electronic, EM Product, Credit Distribution, Client Advisory, and the Global Sales COO. The team works closely with GCEM Trading, Structuring and Research and in partnership with regional FID sales management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Given the scale, scope, and pivotal nature of the sales organization to the broader GCEM business, the responsibilities of the role are diverse but in summary include working in conjunction with the Global Sales COO to ensure the sales business is run optimally and there is a clear, executable strategy is in place to deliver profitable wallet share growth with target clients.
Whilst initially the ANL / AVP role is likely to be focused on conducting analysis to support key deliverables, the role presents an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to rapidly take on increasing ownership and work with senior business management.
Key responsibilities of the Global Sales COO team include:
• Formulating sales performance analytics to understand economic value across
clients/products/regions/segments
• Developing presentations and communications for diverse audiences including senior FO and FID management
• Involvement in key business and FID-wide sales initiatives (e.g., client segmentation, sales
strategy development)
• Performing competitor benchmarking and working with third party consultants (e.g. Greenwich, Euromoney) to provide survey input and identify key gaps and opportunities across client segments
• Dealing with day-to-day sales-related queries
• Partnering with the broader GCEM COO team, FID sales management, and key support
departments (e.g., IB Finance) to deliver on key initiatives and share best practices

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Essential:
- Strong educational background i.e., strong degree in a financial, quantitative or equally rigorous subject.
- Qualifications in mathematical or quantitative subject of A/B grade at A-Level.
- Excellent communicator able to liaise with all levels – Junior to very senior – and explain
potentially complex ideas and issues.
- Proactive, “can do” attitude, and able to learn quickly and independently.
- Able to multi task utilising strong prioritisation skills. Must be well organised
- Demonstrated strong career progression so far with a track record of achievement.
- Commercial awareness and aptitude for making smart business decisions
- Experience developing bespoke analysis and ‘senior management ready’ client presentations
- Excellent spreadsheet and PowerPoint skills
- Familiarity with a sales trading business
- Strong communication skills and commercial acumen
- Ability to adapt personal style and approach to key sales trading stakeholders
Desirable:
- An MBA, CFA or equivalent is desirable but not essential.
- Although the role has no direct reports, leadership and influencing skills are important to get
things done by other team members and /or people outside the team.
- This role would be well suited to someone with an IBD or Consulting background.
Overseas travel is not expected to be a core part of the role.
