Global Investment Research (GIR) produces the fundamental research and analysis of industries, companies, and economies, which drive commercial business for the firm. We develop relationships with investing clients and help them achieve superior returns through our industry insights and investment ideas.

The pharmaceuticals team is looking for a suitable candidate with a life science degree who is also interested in expanding their horizons to financial services. Selected candidates will be expected to work closely with all team members and contribute meaningfully to both the internal and external output of the team.

The successful candidate would be working closely with senior analysts in the Pharmaceuticals sector team to analyse companies and stocks within the (industry) sector and the factors that affect the industry as a whole.

Responsibilities

• Researching and critically analysing market information

• Auditing company and industry data and statistics

• Assisting in compilation and writing of reports and investment recommendations

• Building and maintaining financial models using advanced Excel

• Interpreting clinical data and impact on financial estimates

• Handling requests for information from clients and other Goldman Sachs divisions

Preferred Qualifications

• A genuine desire to work within Global Investment Research - imperative that candidates see and want this as a true career move

• Strong quantitative, analytical and technical skills – experience in excel and working with financial models

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills - both verbal and written

• Excellent academic background – life sciences degree and/or post-graduate study, ideally in biology or medicine

• Desirable background(s) could include ACA qualified or part qualified, previous work in an investment bank or CFA qualified
