Global Technology – Senior Wintel Administrator (AVP)

Global Technology (GT) Production is responsible for the deployment, running and production control of all of the Bank's software and hardware landscape, operating and monitoring the run time environment while continually optimising efficiency and control.
We leverage standard best-practice processes in line with the industry-standard ITIL model, and pro-actively manage the bank's technology platforms to deliver the service, capacity, stability and flexibility demands of our business clients, balancing the need for vertical, business-aligned services with horizontal efficiency and control.
Background
Wintel administrators work as part of a team, supporting the bank’s Wintel, Virtualization, Remote desktop infrastructure. This is a production operation support role, as well as team management that include providing day-to-day and out-of-hours support. The team also participates in testing and implementing new products and solutions for the bank. An essential requirement is an appreciation of the critical nature of banking systems, and the availability and reliability that this demands.
Responsibilities
- Administration, installation, maintenance and monitoring of enterprise-wide systems
- Manage projects and vendors
- Diagnose and troubleshoot problems and recommend feasible IT solutions
- Develop system operation procedures and documentation
- Identify opportunities for increased automation to gain efficiencies within IT
- Work closely with Team Members to ensure environmental stability
- Responsible focal point for all Wintel related matters in country of operations
- Work with Application developers/DBA/Unix/ Wintel SA's to provide solutions
- Carry out break-fix activity to upkeep the Wintel environment
- Carry out large data migrations to refresh technology under Wintel platforms
- Provide operational stability by constantly keeping latest versions of Wintel boxes to their supportable versions
- Work with regional global head to deploy Wintel technology consistently as per global standards
- Participate in audit regulatory field-work with aim to seek satisfactory successful audit report
- Follow the ITIL standards adapt them to apply in day-to-day Wintel administration
Skills Experience
- University graduate in Computer Science / Information Technology or related disciplines
- Minimum 5 years' relevant experience
- Solid Knowledge in VMWare ESX Windows Server Administration, preferably with certification
- Solid Knowledge in Citrix XenDesktop, preferably with certification
- Experience in Netbackup 6.x / TSM
- Experience in SAN / NAS Solution
- Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (Mandarin is preferred)
- MCSE 2003+ is a must
- Working experience in Investment bank is an advantage
- Able to understand the concept of Information Life Cycle Management
- Able to write Perl and shell scripts
- ITIL certified professional desired
- Experience in financial industry is preferred though not mandatory
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to understand commercial approach to provide Wintel technology as a commodity
- Able to work on weekends and out of hours
- Ability to lead mentor a team of Wintel administrators
- Able to work independently and under pressure; good sense of service
