The role: Governance Principal The Google.org Governance team's objective is to use technology to improve the model of governance, and increase transparency and accountability. As a member of the team, you will be responsible for deconstructing and rethinking components of the public sector to meet changing and increasingly complex needs. You will identify and deploy innovative technology solutions to help governments improve service delivery and adopt more efficient practices. Responsibilities: * Identify/evaluate opportunities. Develop insightful recommendations on strategic direction and specific project opportunities that can move the needle in the public sector. * Perform analysis and research, of technical, and business issues associated with potential product ideas or strategic investments. * Incubate projects. Find creative ways to structure and launch projects and leverage resources most effectively to have massive impact. * Drive project execution. Ensure mature projects are well organized, staffed, and delivering on desired goals. * Build compelling case for projects that will motivate executives. Advocate/ champion projects with executives. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Sciences. In lieu of degree, 4 years of work experience in relevant field. * 4 years of experience at a management consulting firm or investment bank, or equivalent project management experience in a line role for a high-growth technology firm. Preferred Qualifications: * Graduate degree (Computer Science, Math, MBA). * 10 years of relevant experience. International work experience. * Extensive experience functioning in highly technical environments * Successful track record of building projects across sectors, disciplines, and experiences with measurable results. * Professional distinction in thought leadership, the public sector, and innovation. * Solid communication and interpersonal skills; ability to be personable yet persistent; superior writing skills.
