Graduate Associate – IT Operations recruitment

The successful candidate will be integral in the transition of application support knowledge from the .NET tactical development team into Application Support. This will be aided through the provision of system documentation, the development and delivery of internal training sessions and side-by-side working.

The role will cover application support and maintenance from front to back-office and across all asset classes

Key Responsibilities:

• To provide 1st and 2nd line support at the required service levels for all IT solutions that are hosted or managed by EDF Trading in-line with the technical support strategy covering all in-house and vendor-purchased systems in use by the business

• Work with other internal support groups and vendors of 3rd party systems in order to resolve issues with the implementation or operation of systems and services

• For any incidents that arise perform root cause analysis to identify any development solutions that if implemented would resolve the issue and its root causes. Effectively communicate this to the Application Support Manager as required through the production of change specifications

• Understand the Business Strategy for the remote offices and provide geographical support to deliver this strategy. This may include timezone support, data and software licences etc.

• For applications developed by third-parties, manage the service provision provided by that third-party to ensure that all applications are available to meet the customer's service expectations and any development work is completed and accepted in accordance with EDFT's requirements.

• For applications developed internally, gain a comprehensive knowledge of the critical systems, their inter-dependencies with the Global Energy database and provide technical support to other teams and team members in the resolution of issues

• Perform OAT in accordance with the agreed procedures for all planned releases to ensure that no release goes live that does not meet the OAT acceptance criteria

• Where projects are initiated by IPM, as required, provide support and assistance to either IPM or Development in the coordination of activities or management of a third party to deliver developments for that project

• Ensure that deployments are implemented in accordance with the Release and Deployment procedures governed by QA

• Keep abreast of industry technological developments and identify opportunities to implement new software to provide a more efficient and effective service to the Business. Discuss any potential advances with the Application Support Manager so that the IT Strategy may be updated if required

• Feed change requests into the weekly CCB for approval and organise implementation where required

• As required, participate in regular routine tests of the Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan

• As required, provide data relating to the activities of EDFT internally for regulatory purposes and to other companies within the EDF group. This data to be provided in a form and format as agreed with the recipient

Experience Required: Experience of SQL query writing would be advantageous. Understanding of ITIL processes is beneficial. Comprehension of the life-cycle of a trade would be an advantage.

Technical Requirements: Graduate qualification (minimum 2:1), preferably in an IT-based discipline. Technically proficient in Microsoft Office 2007 onwards, in particular Excel.

Person Specification: Highly motivated to deliver results and meet strict deadlines. Excellent communication skills. Strong analytical skills and competent in performing root-cause analysis and undertaking structured problem solving. Must possess the aptitude to learn complex concepts quickly and be able to relay the information. Experience of working in a fast paced or stressful environment is beneficial. Must be a self-starter willing to take responsibility for an issue and be pro-active in its resolution.
