Purpose of the role
The System Administrator will help to manage support for customer applications.  Manage our server infrastructure which is a mix of Linux and Windows Server 2008. The candidate will be a strong communicator able to assimilate problems and issues into effective responses whilst managing client expectations. They will be competent in specifying requirements to the development teams for detailed investigations and bug fixes.

The successful candidate will have a good knowledge of networks. The candidate must have a desire to learn and develop in all these areas.

Job Description
The System Administrator role reports to the IT Director responsible for our IT development and support.

Activities will include:

•       Monitor the PCI-DSS data centre environment using such as HIDS, LIDS system on a daily basis, perform the monthly vulnerability scans using Nessus.

•       Support the office infrastructure, troubleshoot any problems.

•       Diagnosing operational issues, liaising with clients, developers and partners comprising our overall support framework.

•       Involvement in the service relationship with support partners to help maximise their value to our business.

•       Working directly with the development teams to identify and specify development to help eradicate manual processes and promote automation.

•       Working closely with the development teams to support the release process and minimise operational impact as new/updated software is released into the production environment.

•       Support applications through the ticketing system, managing expectations with customers and liaising with suppliers and our development teams.

Candidate

            The right candidate will be given support mechanisms to learn while on the job areas of which they have no experience in.

•       Someone with a solid technical background either from commercial experience or academia.

•       Well organised with the ability to step through issue diagnosis in a methodical manner

•       Thorough understanding of change management.

•       Sound appreciation of release processes and testing

•       A hands-on team player.
