Graduate / Junior Software engineer / Algorithm designer – Hedge Fund – London / NY recruitment

Graduate / Junior Software engineer / Algorithm designer - Hedge Fund.

The company is a "blue chip" hedge fund with a 15 year track record of success - focused predominantly on algorithmic and computerised form of trading.  They are recognised as a leader and pioneer in automated trading and invest heavily in research and technology.

The company employs around 250 people across London and New York, distributed across a number of different research teams.  Research groups consist of software developers and mathematicians and focus on creating trading opportunities in the different asset classes and markets that they are aligned to.

As a junior researcher, your responsibilities will be varied, but will focus on developing software to support the trading activities of the team.  Typically, you will work with more senior members of the team in coding algorithms, seeking to improve efficiency, testing trading strategies, writing software to gather and normalise data.  You will also have the opportunity to work on statistical and mathematical analysis with an even more direct impact on trading profit and loss and your progress and development will only be limited by your own ambition and hard work.

Senior members of research teams have all started as juniors and graduate trainees.  Given the huge trading profits that can be made through this form of proprietary trading, the financial rewards are huge and several senior members of teams have, in the short time that they have been employed, become (multi) millionaires.

Applicants can apply for either New York or London positions and hence will be eligible to work in either UK or USA.

You will be a recent computer science graduate from a top US or UK school and will be proficient in either C++ or Java.  Typically, successful applicants have had an interest in coding and/or mathematics from a young age and will have some interest in financial markets.
